The North Hook Story: From the High Plains to the Lake

Rooted in the Wild My story began in the rugged landscapes of North Central Montana. Growing up there, life was defined by the seasons—not by the calendar, but by the migration of birds and the movement of elk. Those early years spent hunting the coulees and fishing the local waters weren't just a hobby; they were an education in patience, grit, and the deep satisfaction that comes from a life lived outdoors.

A Life of Service For over 20 years, my "office" was a classroom and a gym. As a teacher and a coach, my focus was on mentorship, teamwork, and helping others find their potential. While those decades were incredibly rewarding, the fast pace of a school schedule often meant that my own passions for the field and the stream had to take a backseat.

The Turning Point Life recently brought our family to the shores of Turner Bay on Lake Coeur d’Alene. This move wasn't just a change of scenery; it was a catalyst for a lifestyle shift. With the mountains at my back and the water at my doorstep, I found the time and space to rekindle that fire for the outdoors that had been burning since my youth in Montana.

The Mission of North Hook Outdoors North Hook Outdoors was born from this resurgence. It’s more than a digital brand—it’s a platform for sharing our family’s adventures as we explore the incredible terrain of North Idaho and beyond.
